Southwest Colorado Community College is offering a one-semester Spanish language for medical professionals this spring.

SCCC designed the curriculum to the needs of a variety of medical professionals including unit clerks, nurse aides, nurses, doctors as well as those in allied health career fields.

The primary focus of the course will be on vocabulary needed to communicate with Spanish-speaking patients.

The three-credit class will meet Wednesdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Mercy Medical Center.

The course runs from Jan. 21 to May 13, and is open to the public.
